This May, Tai Chi Youth Group members and athletes form Sitan Tai Chi and Martial Arts competed at the National Team Trials, National Ranking, and National Championship in Lubbock, Texas. Several of our members won medals in their respective events, including Ethan Yip, Katie Yan, Victor Huang, Maggie Chen, Alice Chen, Brendon Lo, and Emma Chai! Additionally, our group’s advisor, Alan Huang, is qualified for the World Wushu Championship, which will take place this November.
Our Performance at One Police Plaza (5/9)
To honor Asian American Heritage Month, Tai Chi Youth Group members performed at the One Police Plaza in Chinatown for the New York Police Department. Their routine demonstrated the member’s skills in various forms, including straight sword, broadsword, tai chi, southern fist, and fan! Here are some photos of our performance and our performers.
Our World Tai Chi and Qi Gong Day (4/29) Event This Year!
On April 29th, 2023, the Tai Chi Youth Group led a Tai Chi workshop at Central Park to celebrate World Tai Chi and Qigong Day. Despite rainy weather, participants practiced Tai Chi with Master Sitan Chen, a Tai Chi World Champion! Be sure to look out for updates next year, as we will organize another amazing event to celebrate this special date!

World Tai Chi Day event at Central Park (4/29)

Saturday April 29th is World Tai Chi and Qi Gong Day! Both Tai Chi and Qi Gong are traditional Chinese sports that have long histories with millions of practitioners around the world. The Tai Chi Youth Group will be celebrating this occasion by hosting a FREE Tai Chi event and workshop at Mineral Springs in Central Park from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Two-time world champion Master Sitan Chen will be leading a Tai Chi and Qi Gong workshop there. Additionally, the Tai Chi Youth Group has also organized various martial arts performances.
